Since 1954, when it came into being, the group has been initiating and co-organising regional, national and international artistic events
such as International Folklore Days, International Folklore Meetings of Twin Towns or Regional Festival of Folk Bands. International Folklore
Days have been enjoying great popularity since many years. That colourful event offers the citizens of Olsztyn and tourists a chance to admire bands form Belarus, Slovakia, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Kurdistan, Togo, Italy, Korea or such exotic corners of the world as the Republic of Buryatia. Over the years WARMIA has become a multigeneration community of over 250 people, which makes it one of the largest ensembles in the world.

It is a representative folk band of the University of Warmia and Mazury. Its history dates back to the 1950s when a group of students founded a folk dance ensemble. Until now, the Polish folklore serves the group as an unfailing source of inspiration. Through dancing and music it faithfully recreates Polish dances, songs and rites. Its dancers perform
in original folk costumes, exerting deep fascination with their beauty and richness.
